Continuum of Care Workgroup (formerly AI/AN Opioid Response Workgroup)
All people deserve access to effective, compassionate, timely, and culturally grounded services wherever they are on the continuum of use to recovery. This includes access to prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support services. There are many barriers within the systems in our state that keep people from receiving care when they need it. This workgroup will work through the following priorities:
- Improve and increase access to effective, compassionate, timely, and culturally grounded services across the continuum of care, including transportation and workforce development
- Expanding residential care to accommodate children and families in services and care.
- Access to prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support services.
- Further integration of Indigenous culture and practices into prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support services, including funding mechanisms
- Directly fund Tribes rather than through state and other agencies
- Advocate at the federal level for timely and appropriate adjustments to Medicated Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) dosing – create talking points, template letters for Tribal Leaders to advocate through the Taskforce and other Tribal Organizations
- Streamline onboarding new providers at MOUD and Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP)
- Explore and enhance interstate compacts for treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders
- Permanently authorizing telemedicine
- Creating and reviewing list of resources and resource documents for this priority to support development of Tribal Opioid and Fentanyl Response Resource Library
